Nifty new website (also available as a podcast) at http://www.hollywoodpreviews.com/.

Sponsored by Vonage, (so you know it's not going to disappear overnight) this info portal is a quick and easy way to get a blast of the latest video culture.

Since you can subscribe through iTunes, it's easy to automatically get some content for your iPod without having to jump through a lot of hoops converting other Video formats.

Why iPod is important - and valuable

I use the term "iPod" here as a system of storing and using music and video, rather than why "iPods ARE important", refering to the hardware.

Read this quote from the Edinburgh, Scotland Herald as to how important iPod is to one of their young actors in Great Britain:

"Music
The best-value thing I have ever bought is an iPod because I spend a lot of time living away from home.
I don't think they are that expensive, considering you can take all your music with you. I buy a few CDs every now and then so I do tend to spend money on music. It's usually the latest stuff from the album chart. The last album I bought was The Kooks and in my car at the moment I have The Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand and Johnny Cash."

Bingo. It's the storage size and ease of use that makes an iPod such a useful little bugger.

Video Blogging for Small Business

Stay tuned to TopIpodInfo for a series of "how to" articles on blogging and video blogging for small business coming soon. Why mention this on an iPod Blog?

Well, in our marketing business, we actually use Video iPods for a number of sales and promotion techniques.

"Video Slideshows". We take a number of still images of our past projects, put them in an image folder on the iPod, and then we can pick any song on our iPod, and run a presentation of our project samples on any nearby Television during client meetings, trade shows, or vendor presentation events.

"iPod PowerPoint". We also take some of our Powerpoint presentations, and do the same thing. Export the frames of the PowerPoint presentation as images, move them in a folder onto your iPod, and bingo, you can present anywhere there's a TV, no computer necessary.

We also run small videos of some of our live training and promotional events we run for our clients. This is great to just hand to a prospect, to let them experience the energy of a live event for themselves.

The caviet around all of this is that you DO have to remember to take an A/V to stereo mini plug cable with you along with your iPod, to make sure you can connect up to a Television. Most televisions nowadays have the required A/V jacks, for the rugrats to hook up their videogames.

How to Reset or Restart Your iPod

So you didn't do anything "wrong", yet your iPod is sitting there with a dark screen (with the evil "apple shadow" logo mocking you) or it's frozen on the last thing you were trying to do.

Well, here's the easy way to get back to happy iPodding again:

- First of all, make sure the "hold" switch on the top (the oval button that shows a hint of orange when your iPod is on "hold" or locked) is not LOCKED! Slide it so no orange is showing - I've been fooled by this one myself a couple times - even though they show a little "lock" icon on the screen, it can't be seen if your screen is black, eh Apple?

- Next, you have two choices, depending if you have a "Scroll Wheel" iPod, or "Click Wheel" iPod.

SCROLL WHEEL
  1. Turn the Hold/Pause switch from off to on to off again. (No hold, to hold, to no hold)
  2. Press and hold the "Menu" and the "Select" buttons for 6-10 seconds until the apple logo appears, or some other sign of life happens. The "Menu" button is the top part of your scroll wheel, and the "Select" button is the round button in the middle of your scroll wheel.
CLICK WHEEL
  1. Turn the Hold/Pause switch from off to on to off again. (No hold, to hold, to no hold)
  2. Press and hold the "Play/Pause" and the "Menu" buttons for 6-10 seconds until the apple logo appears, or some other sign of life happens.
That should do it. You can also try connecting your iPod up to a power source like your computer or a charger if the button tricks fail. Fire up iTunes if you're connecting to a computer, and sometimes that wakes your iPod up!
